it just absolutely blows me away that trans people are literally murdered on a regular basis for being trans and people on this site are still trying to equate that level of oppression with the fact that some teenage trans kids say cis people suck on their blogs sometimes or something like are you kidding me that is an absolutely disgusting failure of logic

to further clarify: sex characteristics don’t dictate gender, nor does any particular sex characteristic necessarily dictate sex category, but the constructs of gender and sex category don’t exist independently of each other, and it’s disingenuous to pretend that you can apply sex categories to people as if they aren’t gendered (eg “male-/female-bodied”) or that it is enough simply to separate sex categories from gender (or even that it’s possible to truly separate them) without actually abolishing the underlying constructs

So, the Trans Pulse Project, a provincial-based research project on the lives of trans people, found a correlation between trans women’s experiences of depression and community involvement. Apparently, we are more likely to be depressed when we are involved in communities. I am curious about what other negative health consequences community involvement has on the lives and bodies of trans women.
This is specific to trans women (-spectrum people). Trans men do not have a correlation between depression and community involvement.
I wonder if this has something to do with how the trans man’s existence is inherently less difficult? How we take less shit in general so involvement in the community doesn’t put us in contact with as many negative reactions? Or something else?
